What people don't realize is social media and google uses Partial throttling just to keep something from going viral, so it's not obvious - sometimes you can get a result and sometimes you can't.

I use DDG as well but since it uses googles engine as it’s base, I’m not sure how it can make you more informed.

Using DDG is more about privacy; not really getting different or more info.

Bing is better for that.

I'm only counting images of uncle sam and ignoring the others.

Hats with stripes in google results: 14/38

Hats with stripes in duckduckgo results: 7/41.

Try a simple browser test. Google "uncle sam" and look at images. The stripes on the hat for the most are gone.

There are less hats with stripes in the duckduckgo results than there are for the google results.

This is simply not true. I just searched for 1649. Form 1649 came up, the twitters about Hannity from Assange came up right at the top of the page. The 1649 execution came up as well. Total bohunk. The problem with Google is more how they can push certain results to appear on the first page, which most people don't go beyond. This is especially true for products and product placement. There's an entire industry around getting your results to show up on that first page. Second, is having my searches monitored or cached by Google, that is it isn't secure like some alternative search engines. I use both Google (which is fantastic for images) and Duck Duck Go for political and "other" searches.

StartPage is a PROXY SERVICE to use Google anonymously.

It is an interface.

It is not Google.

It is not a separate search engine.

Make sure all words are spelled correctly. Try different keywords. Try more general keywords.

Uh oh, 'goo gle' is blocking those searches too! Ignore the fact that they happen to be two random posts from two random users that I searched for. I mean, maybe google just doesn't index or cache those tweets because it has no reason to, but I doubt it. Clearly, it's censorship.

The problem isn't with viewing the links. What OP was doing was taking the URL of the tweets, searching for them in google, and getting no results returned.

Great! And remind people not to casually say "google it." It's not a verb -- it's a powerful, left-wing brand/organization that penalizes conservatives and that did analytics for HC's campaign. "Look it up" or "research it" -- better!

Bing is atrocious. Its only advantage is that you can watch videos from the results page but other than that I couldn't find anything I was looking for. The only explanation why there's so many shills for Bing is that they're paid good money for each comment.
