At Least 300 Azov Fighters Surrender To Russians At Azovstal Plant, Ending Lengthy Siege

Widespread reports say that some 300 Ukrainian fighters have laid down their weapons and emerged from the cavernous facility. "More than 260 Ukrainian soldiers were evacuated from the besieged Azovstal steel plant in the port city of Mariupol," Ukraine's Deputy Defense Minister Ganna Malyar said. Another "53 heavily wounded (soldiers) were evacuated from Azovstal to the medical mortgage near Novoazovsk for medical aid," according to Malyar's statement.

Azov issued a statement on Telegram saying they are "implementing the approved decision of the Supreme Military Command" in order to "save lives".

And the Russian side has since confirmed that "An agreement has been reached on the removal of the wounded," according to a Russian defense ministry statement. "A humanitarian corridor has been opened through which wounded Ukrainian servicemen are being taken to a medical facility in Novoazovsk."

Russian media is also widely reporting the surrender at Azovstal, with RT airing some of the first footage of the evacuation of the last fighters to leave…

Ambassador Says Russian Diplomats In D.C. Being Approached & Harassed by CIA, FBI

Russian Ambassador to the US Anatoly Antonov over the weekend went public with an usual allegation - that Russian diplomats working in Washington are being harassed and increasingly approached by the FBI and CIA, which are said to be seeking information. Without specifying which precise entity is allegedly behind it, Antonov went so far as to say this includes "threats of physical violence" against Russian embassy employees in D.C. amid the ongoing war in Ukraine.

Antonov described to Russia's TASS news agency over the weekend: "It’s like a besieged fortress. Basically, our embassy is operating in a hostile environment … Embassy employees are receiving threats, including threats of physical violence."

"Agents from US security services are hanging around outside the Russian embassy, handing out CIA and FBI phone numbers, which can be called to establish contact," he claimed.

The Russian ambassador's words were picked up by Reuters, which contacted the named agencies in order to seek confirmation or comment. "CIA and the FBI declined comment. The Office of the Director of National Intelligence and the U.S. State Department did not immediately return messages seeking comment," the report noted.

While it's long been acknowledged as somewhat standard practice among competing foreign intelligence agencies to attempt to quietly recruit agents and assets from the other side (who often work under diplomatic cover at their respective country's embassy or consulate), what is entirely uncommon is that this type of activity would be done so brazenly just outside embassy grounds, as the Russian ambassador is alleging.

As for the general atmosphere of harassment and intimidating "threats" that Russian embassy employees might be on the receiving end of - this part of the allegations seems more believable given Russian officials in Europe have already been subject of such attacks.

The foremost latest example was Russia's ambassador to Poland getting doused in red paint on the occasion of a May 9th 'Victory Day' ceremony. Embassies and consulates in various parts of Europe have also been subject of vandalism and property defacement of late.

The New Rift Between WHO And China

From the beginning of the pandemic, the World Health Organization and China’s CCP have worked and spoken hand-in-glove, culminating in the Potemkin Village junket of mid-February 2020. The WHO-sponsored travel report – how wonderfully China had performed! – was written and signed by American public health officials who recommended Wuhan-style lockdowns, a disastrous policy that further inspired most governments in the world to do the same.

Twenty-six months later, it turns out that China in fact had not “eliminated the virus fully within its borders,” contrary to the over-the-top claims of TV pundit Devi Sridhar in her new book Preventable. They only pushed cases into the future, as the CCP discovered when positive tests appeared all over Shanghai, leading to 7 weeks of brutal lockdowns.

This move on China’s part has been a disaster for the country and the world economy, and presently endangers the financial and technological future of the entire country.

For Xi Jinping, lockdowns and zero-covid were his greatest achievement, one which was celebrated the world over, causing his political pride to swell beyond all bounds. Now, he cannot back off lest he face possible losses in upcoming party elections.

Just this past weekend, he made it clear to the entire government that there would be no backing off the zero-covid policy: the CCP will “unswervingly adhere to the general policy of ‘dynamic zero-Covid,’ and resolutely fight against any words and deeds that distort, doubt or deny our country’s epidemic prevention policies.”

The problem is acute: vast numbers in China likely need to acquire natural immunity via exposure. The lockdown policy likely puts a damper on the achievement of endemicity. That means long-term damage to China’s future.

Sensing this problem, the head of the WHO, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, offered a mild criticism: “Considering the behavior of the virus, I think a shift will be very important,” adding that he had discussed this point with Chinese scientists.

What happened next is truly fascinating: Tedros’s comments were censored all over China and searches for the name Tedros were immediately blocked within the country. Implausibly, merely by stating the incredibly obvious point, Tedros has made himself an enemy of the state. Meanwhile, another WHO/China partisan, Bill Gates, has been sheepishly saying something very similar in interviews, namely that the virus cannot be eradicated.

It’s not just Tedros and Gates who are trying to flee their advocacy of lockdowns. Anthony Fauci himself denied that the US ever had “complete lockdowns” – which is technically correct but not because he didn’t demand them.

On March 16, 2020, Fauci faced the national press and read from a CDC directive: “In states with evidence of community transmission, bars, restaurants, food courts, gyms and other indoor and outdoor venues where groups of people congregate should be closed.”

In fact, one gets the strong sense that governments around the world are pretending as if the whole pathetic and terrible affair never happened, even as they are attempting to reserve the power to do it all over again should the need arise.

Mom says middle school invited daughter to secret LGBTQ+ club, 'did UNTHINKABLE things with the children'

Parents be warned, this is happening everywhere

A Colorado mother of three, Erin Lee, said her 12-year-old daughter was recruited by teachers to attend an "art club" after school, only to find it was a GSA or Gay Straight Awareness/Alliance Club. Not only was the family misled about the purpose of the club, but a guest speaker — who told the middle school students that "if they're not fully comfortable in their bodies, that means they're transgender" — also encouraged the kids to keep secrets from their parents.

Lee told Glenn Beck on the radio program Monday that her "shy, vulnerable, barely 12-year-old daughter" had just moved to Wellington Middle School in Fort Collins, Colorado, when she was invited by her art and home room teachers to attend an "art club" after school.

"She texted us [and] we gave her permission for art club," Lee said of her daughter. "When she got there, it was actually GSA, or Gender and Sexuality Awareness or Alliance Club. The teacher had invited in a completely unqualified outside presenter who did unthinkable things with the children. I'll give you the CliffsNotes version. She told them, 'what you hear in here, keep in here.' She used flags to use defining words, telling them if they're not fully comfortable in their bodies, that means they're transgender. Then she would hand out the fags and stickers and bracelets and other swag. She told them that 'queer' is a label for when they're still figuring out their sexuality.

She did the 'Genderbread person,' which explicitly asked kids who they're sexually attracted to, so 11, 12, 13-year-olds with peers and adults in the room, talking about their sexuality. She handed out her personal contact information and invited them to connect on teen chat platforms, like WhatsApp and Discord, where she knows that parents are not monitoring the conversation. She told them that families may not be safe, and it's okay to lie about where they are. And in fact, the art teacher, as my daughter was leaving the room that day, pulled her aside and said, 'remember, you don't have to tell your mom.'"

The outside presenter, Kimberly Chambers, is the director of SPLASH Youth of Northern Colorado, an organization that targets children as young as 5 years old, as indicated on its own website. Chambers is a paid employee of the Larimer County Department of Health and Environment with access to children’s information, according to a Parents Defending Education incident report.

Lee went on to say that, after learning from her daughter what happened, she and her husband contacted the school principal, who confirmed that the meeting was, in fact, held in secret and they are always held in secret because as a public school they have to offer children a "safe space." Lee then turned to the school board, but said she was ignored "for months." Finally, she was able to meet with board member Kristen Draper, who turned out to be a close friend and "strong ally" to Chambers. Draper also volunteers for an arm of SPLASH called SKITTLES.

"FOIA emails showed that [the school] immediately colluded when I objected to what happened," Lee told Glenn. "They immediately colluded with the school board to keep me quiet. They referenced parents who find out as 'barriers' that the school board has removed. They talked about sending social services into my home because I didn't like what they did with my child," she continued.

FDA, Abbott Agree on Plan to Re-Open Shuttered Baby Formula Plant

Top baby formula manufacturer Abbott has reached an agreement with federal regulators on a plan to restart production at its shuttered Michigan plant. The Sturgis Abbott plant, which is the nation’s largest baby formula manufacturing hub, has been closed since February over a contamination issue. According to an Abbott spokesman, the plant will need six-eight weeks in order to resume production.

Abbott did not immediately detail the terms of the agreement with the Food and Drug Administration.

In February, the FDA launched an investigation of Abbott’s Sturgis, Michigan plant after receiving reports of Cronobacter sakazakii and Salmonella Newport infections among infants. In total, four infant illnesses were reported and later linked back to consumption of formula from the plant. Two of the affected infants later died.

AEC on alert for electoral fraud conspiracies as fringe parties embrace Trump-style 'stolen election' lie

Almost one in two red flags issued by the election watchdog to social media platforms concern misleading narratives about voter fraud and electoral integrity — many of which borrow from America's "stolen election" conspiracies.

Key points:

A misinformation expert says Australia has imported electoral fraud narratives from the US

Freedom parties have made call-outs for scrutineers to monitor voters on election day

A Queensland LNP senator also spread unfounded claims of voter fraud in Australia

Four days out from the election, the Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) has issued at least 45 formal warnings on online election-related content.

Just under half of these are related to misinformation or disinformation about the electoral system.

"There is no doubt that we have seen an increase in incorrect communication about electoral processes (deliberate or otherwise) compared to the previous election in 2019," an AEC spokesperson said in an email.

The AEC is also being warned of a possible influx of scrutineers being recruited by "freedom parties" and advocacy groups linked to Australia's anti-lockdown movement to challenge vote counting at the federal election.

Fuelled by conspiracy theories about voter fraud, teams of volunteers are attending training and gearing up to monitor vote counting on polling day.

"I've attended many different local groups … in response to COVID-19 and they say, 'We don't trust the government. We don't trust the elections,'" Tasmanian teacher Felikss Klavins said.

"I stand up and just tell them, 'Why don't you just scrutineer if you don't trust the system?'"

ACT Supreme Court refuses Bernard Collaery's application for government agency documents

The latest twist in the saga of the government's pursuit of Bernard Collaery has seen the ACT Supreme Court refuse his application for piles of documents from a number of agencies, including the overseas spy group ASIS.

As part of his defence, Mr Collaery had planned to use the material to question the legality of an alleged spy operation in East Timor during oil and gas treaty negotiations.

Mr Collaery is facing five charges, including allegedly conspiring with the man dubbed Witness K to release the classified information and with sharing the information with several others.

Mr Collaery had issued four subpoenas to Australia's overseas spy agency ASIS, the department of Prime Minister and Cabinet, the Office of National Intelligence and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

The requests called for a large range of documents relating to the alleged bugging operation on the East Timor cabinet.

Mr Collaery maintained he was entitled to contest the legality of the alleged operation, citing legal limits on the functions of ASIS to Australia's national security, foreign relations and national economic wellbeing.

Mr Collaery told the court he would be entitled to an acquittal if a jury was not satisfied beyond reasonable doubt that the actions of ASIS that he allegedly disclosed were within the law.

But in his ruling Justice David Mossop found it was unnecessary for the government to prove the legality beyond a reasonable doubt, in order to prosecute Mr Collaery.

Trial date still elusive as lawyers argue over document release

The details of the argument only came to light when Justice Mossop released his judgement.

Most of the hearing had been held in closed court, highlighting the little content or even context that is available in the public domain.

And there is still no sign of any trial date.

Lawyers in the case are still arguing about what secret information should be allowed to be considered.

And there is still no release of a redacted appeal court ruling, which Mr Collaery won.

The dispute over that went to the High Court where it remains parked pending other decisions about the case.

Senate Advances Bill to Give Ukraine $40 Billion in Aid During 40-Year High Inflation

The Senate voted on Monday to advance legislation that would provide $40 billion in aid to Ukraine, while Americans continue to suffer from food shortages and reel from inflation.

The Senate voted to invoke cloture on the motion to proceed on H.R. 7691, the Ukraine Supplemental Aid Package. The motion passed 81-11. This means that the Senate can begin debate on the Ukraine aid package.

The legislation would provide over $20 billion in military supplies and roughly $20 billion in humanitarian, economic, and other aid to Ukraine.

While Senate Republicans and Democrats overwhelmingly voted to advance the legislation, many populist-leaning Republicans such as Sens. Josh Hawley (R-MO) and Rand Paul (R-KY) have opposed the legislation.

Sens. Paul, Hawley, Mike Crapo (R-ID), Bill Hagerty (R-TN), Mike Braun (R-IN), Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), John Boozman (R-AR), Roger Marshall (R-KS), Cynthia Lummis (R-WY), and Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) voted against the bill.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) have tried to quickly pass the bill through the Senate; however, Paul has demanded that the Senate pass an amendment to create a special inspector general to oversee how the Ukraine military aid is spent.

“My oath of office is the US constitution not to any foreign nation and no matter how sympathetic the cause, my oath of office is to the national security of the United States of America,” Paul said on the Senate floor last week. “We cannot save Ukraine by dooming the US economy.”

Paul said he would try to delay the bill until Thursday. He told CNN, “Because I think we should have an inspector general. We have one out there and overseeing Afghan waste. He’s been very good at it. You don’t have to wait for an appointment. He’s got a team up and running. And I think that’s what we should do.”

Kelley Vlahos, an editor of Responsible Statecraft for the interventionist Quincy Institute, wrote that Paul “single handedly” held up the Ukraine aid bill.

“Lawmakers, who have shuttled billions of dollars through Congress in seeming record time over the last two months, are predictably annoyed,” Vlahos remarked.

Breitbart News defense reporter Kristina Wong broke down the spending for the Ukraine aid package, which includes $20 billion for the Department of Defense:

— $17 billion for U.S. military operations, including the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative, and to replace U.S. military equipment sent to Ukraine;

— $1.8 billion in U.S. military equipment for Ukraine;

— $414 million for “research, development, test and evaluation” related to the Ukraine war;

— $15 million for U.S. troop pay related to the war; and

— $13.9 million for the Defense Health Program.

Roughly $20 billion was for Ukraine, the State Department, international organizations, and other agencies, including:

— $8.77 billion in economic assistance for Ukraine;

— $4.35 billion in humanitarian aid for Ukraine;

— $4 billion for foreign military financing program (run by the State Department);

— $900 million for the Administration for Children and Families for refugee and entrant assistance;

— $500 million for the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development;

— $400 million for the international narcotics control and law enforcement to combat human trafficking and collect evidence of war crimes;

— $350 million for the State Department’s Migration and Refugee Assistance;

— $190 million for the State Department for “Diplomatic Programs;

— $150 million for the Global Agriculture and Food Security Program;

— $110 million for the State Department for embassy security, construction, and maintenance;

— $100 million for the State Department for nonproliferation, anti-terrorism, de-mining and related programs;

— $67 million for the Justice Department;

— $54 million for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to carry out public health and disease detection related to Ukraine;

— $17 million for the United States Agency for International Development (USAID);

— $10 million for the State Department’s “Capital Investment Fund”;

— $4 million for the State Department’s Office of Inspector General;

— $2 million for “salaries and expenses” to provide regulatory and technical support; and

— $1 million for USAID’s Office of Inspector General.

Hulu Scraps Hillary Clinton Alternate History Project Starring Claire Danes

'Rodham' imagines a political career unburdened by a horny husband

Hulu, the streaming platform behind the 2020 documentary Hillary, has rejected another project based on the life of the failed presidential candidate.

The network has officially passed on Rodham, a project based on Curtis Sittenfeld's bestselling novel by the same name, which envisioned an alternative universe in which Hillary Rodham met and dated Bill Clinton at Yale Law School but never married the prolific philanderer.

Actors Claire Danes, 43, and Dakota Fanning, 28, have already signed on to play Hillary at various stages of her life. The project, which will be written and produced by former House of Cards writer-producer Sarah Treem, is currently being shopped to other streaming platforms.

Published in May 2020, Rodham provides an alternative history of Hillary's life in which Bill persuades her not to marry him because he knows he could never be faithful. She goes on to become a successful law professor at Northwestern University and eventually a U.S. senator from Illinois.

The book culminates with Hillary making history as the first woman elected president of the United States in 2016 by defeating Republican Jeb Bush in the general election—with Terry McAuliffe as her running mate.

In this universe, Hillary recently attended the Met Gala, where she was photographed smiling on the red carpet as a black man in a protective face mask tended to her fancy ball gown.
