An incoming commercial flight at Tokyo’s Haneda airport burst into flames on Tuesday after colliding with a Coast Guard plane, killing five Coast Guard crewmembers.

All 379 passengers reportedly escaped the flaming commercial airplane.

One user on X posted firsthand footage from inside the plane, commenting, “I thought I was going to die.”

A thick plume of black smoke rose over an airport runway in Japan on Tuesday after a Japanese aircraft collided with a coast guard aircraft and burst into flames, local media reported.

Live footage on public broadcaster NHK showed Japan Airlines passenger plane JAL-516 on a runway at Tokyo’s Haneda airport with flames coming out of its windows. Shortly after, the plane was entirely consumed.

The coast guard aircraft pilot escaped, but the five crewmembers were killed, NHK reported. An official confirmed that a Bombardier Dash-8 Coast Guard plane was involved in the collision.

The mother’s statement described how the victim showed a change in behavior, as well as signs of depression, anxiety, and stress following the sleepovers at the accused.

The father’s statement blamed himself for meeting the accused and struggled with life and his religion following the series of assaults on his child.

The victim wrote they were sad and confused following the acts by the accused and were told not to tell anyone, as the accused would go to jail if they did.

The victim also feared if they told anyone that the accused would come to their home and harm them and their family.

victim’s statement described that they “felt pain in their heart”, and that their “heart turned black” after being shown pornographic material, and “it didn’t feel right.”

28 letters of reference for the accused stated that he is a “good man”, “strong in faith”, a “good friend”, and some pledged they would still trust the accused with their children (these 28 letters came from top Healthcare Executives in Alberta and British Columbia)

St. Albert has joined Edmonton in the list of jurisdictions facing criticism for overpromising on the capabilities of expensive electric bus fleets.

The city’s electric buses have fallen short of their promised lifespan and performance, falling from what was initially thought to be 18 years to an expected lifespan of 12 years – 33% less than predicted.

“It’s disappointing that [the buses] didn’t live up to the hype,” said Coun. Wes Brodhead, according to the St. Albert Gazette.

In 2017, St. Albert distinguished itself as the first Canadian municipality to add long-range electric buses to its public transport system. It debuted three such buses in the spring and expanded the fleet by four more in 2018. The city received $2.1 million in funding from provincial and federal sources to help purchase the buses.

Call it vindictiveness or yet more proof of their lack of accountability but the Waterloo Region District School Board (WRDSB) seems prepared to try any legal means available to them to cancel teacher Carolyn Burjoski for a second time.

The WRDSB and its former chairman, NDPer Scott Piatkowski, have doubled down by appealing the Nov. 22 ruling from Justice James Ramsay of the Ontario Superior Court in which he dismisses their attempts to put an end to Burjoski’s $1.7-million defamation suit against the board.

In response to the board’s anti-SLAPP motion, Ramsay said in the ruling from Nov. 22 that the now retired teacher’s claims have merit and she has a right to free speech.

“What happened here should not happen in a democratic society,” Ramsay wrote. “The chairman of the board (Piatkowski) acted with malice, or at least, with a reckless disregard for the truth.”

Ramsay was referring to Burjoski’s January 2022 presentation – during which she highlighted two highly sexualized books in the board’s elementary school libraries.

Piatkowski shut her down after four minutes and expelled her from the meeting.

She was put on home assignment the next day and threatened to keep quiet if she wanted to keep her retirement benefits.

A Covid-19 vaccine mandate for city employees has led to a quarter-million-dollar lawsuit between a former Fredericton firefighter and his ex-employer.

Gregory Billings, who resigned from his position as captain of the New Brunswick city’s fire prevention division after 21 years of service, is suing the city for $280,000 in compensation and damages.

He claims he was misled by city human resources staff into believing he would lose his severance and pension if he was terminated for refusing to comply with the vaccine policy.

Instead of waiting to be terminated, Billings claims he was led to believe that resigning from his position would lead to a better outcome and his entitled benefits.

The lawsuit, filed on Dec. 14, also accuses the International Association of Fire Fighters Local 1053, Billings’s former union, of failing its duty to provide a member with proper representations by not filing a grievance on his behalf.

“The plaintiff relied on the misrepresentations of the City of Fredericton that retirement was being offered to him and suffered damages as a result through loss of his severance pay and loss of a portion of his pension,” writes lawyers.

The city and the union have not yet filed statements of defence and declined to comment on the matter. The allegations have not been proven in court.

India’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said in a recent interview that Canadian politics abets the growth of Kahlistani activism by allowing separatists to propagate their radical ideology.

Jaishankar’s comments, made to the Asian news outlet ANI, are the latest in an escalating row between Canada and India over the killing of Sikh separatist Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Surrey, B.C..

“The issue at heart is the fact that in Canadian politics, these Khalistani forces have been given a lot of space and allowed to indulge in activities which, I think, are damaging the relationship, and are clearly not in India’s interest, and not in Canada’s interest either. But unfortunately, that is the state of their politics,” Jaishankar said.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has accused the Indian government of overseeing a plot to assassinate Nijjar and other prominent Sikh activists, an accusation which India has denied.

He also clarified that the recent G20 summit in New Delhi had no relation to the Khalistan issue in Canada. Trudeau made the explosive assassination allegations shortly after returning the trip and subsequent reports indicate that his delegation raised the issue with India privately.

“Getting everybody around on a G20 has nothing to do with the Khalistan issue in Canada. The Khalistan issue is not new,” said Jaishankar.

Canada’s new vaccine injury support program surpasses $11.2 million in payouts; new figures show

A year and a half after the Covid-19 vaccines rolled out in Canada, the country launched its first-ever vaccine injury support program in June 2021. Since then, over two thousand Canadians have applied, with $11,236,314 being paid out in vaccine injury compensation as of December 2023.

The Vaccine Injury Support Program (VISP) is funded by the Public Health Agency of Canada but is oddly overseen by a private company called RCGT Consulting Inc. Due to the company's private nature, access to more in depth information is restricted.

Nonetheless, the VISP website provides some statistical information, updated every six months. The December 2023 update reveals that 2,233 claims have been received. Of these, 1,825 are deemed admissible, with only 138 claims approved for compensation so far. Over the past year, claims have risen from 1,299 to 2,233.

In order to qualify for compensation your vaccine injury must be “A serious and permanent injury” and “defined as a severe, life-threatening or life-altering injury that may require in-person hospitalization, or a prolongation of existing hospitalization, and results in persistent or significant disability or incapacity, or where the outcome is a congenital malformation or death.”

The maximum lump sum compensation if you are deemed vaccine injured is $284,000. There are also other payouts provided, which relate to reoccurring loss of income, medical expenses, medical devices, and personal support workers.

According to the Government of Canada's website, there have been over 57,000 adverse event reports related to the Covid-19 vaccines, with 11,231 of those reports being serious. It is not known how many vaccine injury reports to the VISP are Covid-19 vaccine-related as of now, but a June 2022 report from the Public Health Agency said that at that time, 99% were related to the Covid-19 vaccines.
