>In the interim, what they intend to do is to shrink the court

The left has a history of wanting to 'pack' (increase the number of justices of) the Supreme Court.

On February 5, 1937, President Franklin D. Roosevelt shocked America by introducing a plan to expand the Supreme Court, to gain favorable votes.

The plan was to pass a law -the Judicial Procedures Reform Bill of 1937 - that would allow the President to appoint an additional justice for every sitting justice who was over 70 years of age, Roosevelt could add six of his own justices to the court. With two liberals already on the bench, that would put the odds in FDR’s favor.

Democrats Push For Court-Packing After Controversial Supreme Court Rulings

Members of the Congressional Progressive Caucus renewed their calls to pass legislation to add four members the the court, which would bring the total number of justices to 13, following its decisions last week to overturn Biden’s student loan forgiveness program, upend affirmative action and side with a web-designer opposed to making websites for same-sex couples.

We Need to Pack the Court Now

Democrats have won five out of nine presidential elections (and won the popular vote in seven out of nine), but they have appointed only three of the nine sitting Justices. Thus it will not be surprising if the national majority’s view about Roe v. Wade does not prevail on the Court, even while national polls show strong majorities in support of preserving Roe.
