The word pride has multiple meanings.

Proud can mean boastful or arrogant, and that is wrong.

But pride can also mean having a sense of accomplishment in a job well done, or doing the right thing.

Taking pride in one's workmanship and not doing a sloppy job, is a good thing.

It's a balance, like many things in life.

 

We are allowed to be proud of our children without boasting about them.

If we say, I'm proud of you for making a good decision, is that wrong to say?
