Mr. Biden: [the border bill] represents the most fair, humane reforms in our immigration system in a long time, and the toughest set of reforms to secure the border ever. Now, all indications are this bill won't even move forward to the Senate Floor. Why? A simple reason, Donald Trump. Because Donald Trump thinks it's bad for him politically.
Mr. Biden: [the border bill[ is going to make the country safer, make the border more secure, treat people more humanely and fairly, and make legal immigration more efficient and consistent with the values of our nation, and our international treaty obligations.

Mr. Biden: We still need a path for documentation for those who already here, and we're not walking away from true immigration reform, including permanent protections, and a pathway to citizenship for young dreamers, who came here when they were children, and have been good citizens, and contribute so much for our country.

Mr. Biden: I understand the former president is desperately trying to stop this bill, because he's not interested in solving the border problem, he wants a political issue to run against me.

Mr. Biden: Every day between now and November, the American people are going to know that the only reason the border is not secure is Donald Trump, and his MAGA Republican friends.

Jean-Pierre: This month is black history month, where we celebrate and recognize black Americans, and their contributions to the core of who we are as a nation…whether it's music, written and spoken word, fashion, film, or other forms of creative expression, African American and black culture anchors American culture in every passing moment.
Reporter: [Biden] in his remarks laid the blame for this pathway to failure of this legislation [border bill] at the feet of Donald Trump…[Biden] is the current occupant of the Oval Office, doesn't he bear some responsibility? Where is he taking responsibility here?
Jean-Pierre: [Biden] has taken this issue incredibly seriously from day one.
Reporter: This deal looks like it's going to fail. Without getting into specifics, is there a Plan B?
Jean-Pierre: I'm not going to get into specifics of a Plan B, there is a border that exists right now in front of congressional members. A bi-partisan agreement that has been endorsed by the Border Patrol Union, the US Chamber of Commerce.
Reporter: You guys talk a lot, including today, about how the border wouldn't be such a big deal if congress would have just passed your immigration bill on day one. Who was in charge of congress on day one?
Jean-Pierre: So, it's been three years. It's been three whole years. More than three years. More than a thousand days. Look, this is a difficult issue.
Reporter: So the democrats that were in charge for the first two years; no response?
Jean-Pierre: I'm not saying that democrats have not been in control the first two years, I'm saying House Republicans have got in the way.
Reporter: How is [Biden] ever going to convince the three-quarters of voters who are worried about his physical and mental health, that he is okay, even though in Las Vegas he told a story about recently talking to a French president who died in 1996?
Jean-Pierre: I'm not even going to go down that rabbit hole with you, sir.
Reporter: What is a rabbit hole? He said he talked to Mitterarnd.
Jean-Pierre: You saw [Biden] in Vegas, in California, you've seen [Biden] in South Carolina, you saw him in Michigan. I'll just leave it there.
Reporter: Anything specifically on why you're not doing the Super Bowl interview?
Jean-Pierre: Super Bowl is a great annual tradition, and [Biden] certainly looks forward to watching the game this Sunday…we know that the viewers who tuned in, they tune in to watch the game…that is just a fact. They want to see the game. They want to see their favorite team. They want to see a halftime show…[Biden] will find many other ways to communicate with Americans…we will find those ways to do it where we think the time is right.
