>WTF is Lloyd's talking about,

Capt of boat was UKr - msm keep 'forgetting' to mention him & nationality

Boat would be insured prob via Lloyds as many are.

However… the boat was NOT under Capt control. A 'local' was, so usa is 'responsible'…which means whilst brandon might be stumping the cash for a 2-week rebuild better bridge…someone insured the bridge ? didn't they? prob with Lloyds ?

>ugboats supposed to be with the ship while pilot is on board.

Says who?

Doesn't work like that, tugboat push big boat into shipping lane, pilot steers it out (legally in command), hands back command once out of harbor lanes. Pilot jumps ship to an inbound big ship.

>begin the parking process?

No. Was in harbor, had engine/elec issues being sorted from what i read. So only sorta fixed, but prob got to leave a$ap. Pilot gets on steers it outbound, motor/elec fails on way out, in dark, misses turn point, hangs arse end out & wierdly applies power (black smoke, strangly msms say this is reduction in power, ummm) & drops wrong(?) anchor at front to bring her around, clips pylon. thats my take so far. Harbormaster's insurance company on hook.

>foreign workers

yea, always on downside of stuff.

One Q is why was brandon so quick with $$$ ?

the Capt (or HarborPilot) would have known hit was going to happen, and radioed ahead to stop bridge traffic (per msm?).

The workers on bridge were on a tea break per msm. How come no comms to repair crew is another Q

>know the tug boats were supposed to be with the boat until it passed the bridge

Every Harbor is different obviously, maybe a local rule re where tugs have to be. Interesting part is the speed ship was doing, not 'tugboat' speed, more 'clear one boat at time as fast as possible' stuff.

>without a buffer region to halt an errant ship.

Given the weight of a cargo ship, even a wharf is not indestructible. 'barriers' around pylons, maybe? Fortresses can be built ww2 style & so whilst i agree with what you say, who pays? when being done?

another Q, given UKr connection & $$$ 'issues', was this a "msg"? another way to get $$$ moving fast (to UKr?).
