India’s top court defends use of voting machines

Numerous petitions demanding verification of EVMs ahead of the general election were heard

India’s Supreme Court has cautioned against claims that the electronic voting machines (EVMs) used in the country’s general election, which began on Friday, are unreliable, adding that they are not inferior to those used in Europe.

The court has been hearing a number of petitions seeking 100% cross-verification of votes cast on EVMs with paper slips. The petitioners also suggested tweaking the current system – including the use of paper ballots, citing examples from European countries.

On Thursday, a day before the first phase of voting kicked off, the court reserved judgment in the case, noting that rising voter turnout is an indicator of the “people’s faith” in the electoral process.

Responding to comparisons drawn by the petitioners between foreign countries and India, Sanjiv Khanna, one of the justices presiding over the case, said, “We have our own system. It’s working well.” The court added that elections in India are a “humongous task,” given the size of the electorate. Nearly 970 million people are eligible to vote – more than Europe’s total population.

In the run-up to the election, opposition parties questioned the accuracy of the electronic voting system, with many suggesting that anything with a chip installed can be tampered with. India’s Election Commission has dismissed the allegations.

Met Police apologize twice after calling man ‘openly Jewish’

An activist prevented from crossing a street near a pro-Palestinian rally has accused the force of “victim blaming”

The Metropolitan Police has issued not one, but two apologies over a video that surfaced online showing one of its officers telling a campaigner against anti-Semitism that he could not cross a road near a pro-Palestinian rally due to being “openly Jewish.”

The incident happened last Saturday as tens of thousands gathered in London to demand a ceasefire in Gaza and urge the British government to stop arms sales to Israel.

In the clip, a policeman was captured blocking the path of Gideon Falter, chief executive of the Campaign Against Antisemitism, who says he was returning from synagogue and was wearing a traditional Jewish kippah skull cap.

“You are quite openly Jewish, this is a pro-Palestinian march, I’m not accusing you of anything, but I’m worried about the reaction to your presence,” the officer is heard telling Falter. Another officer in the footage told the activist that his presence in the area was “antagonizing.”

Falter later claimed that he had no intention of staging a counter-protest, but was just going about his business. “Instead of addressing that threat of antisemitic violence, the Met’s policy instead seems to be that law-abiding Jewish Londoners should not be in the parts of London where these marches are taking place. In other words, that they are no-go zones for Jews,” he said.

A few days later, assistant police commissioner Matt Twist issued an apology on X (formerly Twitter), saying that the use of the phrase “openly Jewish” was “hugely regrettable.”

At the same time, Twist said that there is a “new trend” of those opposing pro-Palestinian marches appearing along their route to show their stance, “knowing their presence is provocative.”

However, Falter was dissatisfied with the apology and accused the force of “victim- blaming.”

The Metropolitan Police then deleted the initial message and issued a new apology on Friday. It reiterated that the use of the term “openly Jewish” was “hugely regrettable.”

The force also said that “in an effort to make a point about the policing of protest we have caused further offense. This was never our intention.”

“Being Jewish is not a provocation. Jewish Londoners must be able to feel safe in this city. Our commitment to protecting the public extends to all communities across London,” the statement read.

The death toll from Israel’s airstrikes and ground offensive in Gaza over the past six months has surpassed 34,000, according to the enclave’s health ministry. The campaign was launched in response to a raid into Israel by Palestinian armed group Hamas on October 7, in which at least 1,200 were killed and 250 taken hostage.

The Biden regime’s Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is allocating $300 million to ‘sanctuary‘ cities offering support such as shelter and food to illegal aliens. In light of a surge in border crossings, this funding will be channeled through the Shelter and Services Program (SSP). The SSP funds non-federal bodies such as NGOs and local governments that aid illegal aliens who are released into the United States. Of the total funding, $275 million will be dispensed initially, with the remaining $25 million set aside for later in the year.

The program covers costs related to providing shelter, food, transportation, medical care, and personal hygiene to illegal aliens. Other expenses, such as the remodeling of existing facilities, clothing, translation services, outreach information, and administrative costs, are also included.

In addition to this, DHS disclosed an allocation of $340.9 million for the SSP competitive grant program. This comes after a distribution of over $780 million last year through SSP and another program to sanctuary cities and organizations providing services to illegals.

According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) data, the influx of illegal immigrants into the United States has skyrocketed in recent years, with exceptional numbers recorded in FY 2023 and the first six months of FY 2024.

Over the past several years, at least 86 million birds have been killed in the United States for supposedly being infected with bird flu. Whether or not this is actually true, it has created a convenient cover for destroying a large segment of the American meat and egg supply at a time when inflation is through the roof.

It would seem as though the goal is to make bird flu transmissible to humans as well, which would turn it into another COVID whereby the powers that be will once again lock everything down, usher in new "vaccines" at warp speed, force everyone back into masks, and all the rest.

China arrests foreign consultancy chief as ‘spy’ for Britain’s MI6

China’s Ministry for State Security said Monday it has arrested a man surnamed Huang, who heads a foreign consultancy in the country, as an alleged British spy, with one newspaper warning that there are “007s” everywhere in real life.

“Recently, the national security agency uncovered a case in which the British Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) used personnel from a third country to conduct espionage activities against China,” state news agency Xinhua reported, citing a statement on the ministry’s official WeChat account.

“The overseas national surnamed Huang is head of a foreign consultancy,” it said. “In 2015, the British Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) developed Huang as part of an intelligence cooperation relationship.”

Huang’s is the latest in a string of arrests of foreign nationals and raids on foreign consultancies that come in the wake of amendments to China’s Counterespionage Law in 2023, which has been criticized by investors for its vague definition of what exactly constitutes espionage.

It also appears to form part of a nationwide campaign to “awaken” China’s citizens to the existence of foreign spies in their everyday lives, according to recent ruling Communist Party propaganda.

“MI6 then instructed Huang to enter China multiple times using his public identity as cover to collect China-related intelligence for British espionage and to identify personnel for MI6 to incite to rebellion,” the report said, accusing the British intelligence services of giving “special spy equipment” to Huang for the purpose.

Huang had given up 12 pieces of evidence showing the leakage of “state secrets” and three other pieces of intelligence, according to the ministry.

He is currently being held under “criminal coercive measures,” according to Xinhua.

Foreign ministry spokesperson Mao Ning declined to comment on the report at a regular news briefing in Beijing on Monday, referring journalists to the ministry’s WeChat official account.

‘007s around us’

The nationalistic Global Times, sister paper to Communist Party mouthpiece the People’s Daily, drew parallels with the fictional hero of the James Bond books and movies, who is also known as “007.”

“Countries such as the UK, in line with their broader strategy of countering China, have expanded their espionage efforts beyond traditionally targeted areas to encompass economic, military, scientific, technological, and financial domains,” it said.

The paper quoted Li Baiyang, associate professor of intelligence studies at Nanjing University, as saying: “We should be wary of the 007s around us; we shouldn’t naively think that 007 is a character that exists only in films.”

“It [espionage] is actually everywhere, [and they are] planting their spies in other countries,” Li told the paper, echoing recent public service announcements about “foreign spies” who have allegedly infiltrated every aspect of life in China.

Last August, the security ministry opened an official account on WeChat, calling on Chinese citizens to “enhance the awareness of counterespionage of the whole society, and form a strong joint force to maintain national security.”

State media said it was a necessary move, to put all of China on an anti-espionage footing as a result of new “criminal activities” that endanger national security.

Australia’s Communications Minister Tells People To Report Social Media Posts to the Chief Censor

Australia's push for more online censorship sparks debate as the Communications Minister urges citizens to report speech to the eSafety commissioner.

Australia’s Federal Communications Minister Michelle Rowland has urged citizens to report content posted on social sites to what’s known as the country’s “chief censor,” the eSafety commissioner.

Appearing on the ABC Radio Sydney Breakfast, Rowland explained to host Craig Reucassel what the current government thinks should be done about “misinformation.”

Often-repeated assertions were heard that there is dangerous misinformation on social media along with exposure to “reactions and rumors” that traumatize users – because, for example, they are able to view breaking news videos “with no censorship.”

(This last bit is what rubs Reucassel the wrong way, and it has to do with the recent Sydney stabbing attacks that he would evidently like “nicely packaged” first, in that way controlling how the public learns about an event and reacts to it.)

And so, clearly, both the minister and the host agree that the government should step in (even more) and intervene, the only question is, how?

One of the ideas is to come up with yet another “voluntary” (voluntary as in, “or else…”) code of conduct for tech companies, probably along the lines of what is already happening in the EU.

The purpose would be to get platforms to remove even more content that’s labeled as “misinformation.”

Right now, the eCommissioner is the official who can order comments removed, but a “voluntary code” would obviously expedite things.

In the meantime, since according to the minister, platforms aren’t “doing enough,” she encouraged citizens to report content to the eSafety commissioner, turning themselves into some sort of “government censorship helpers.”

Reucassel exhibited quite the zeal for censorship, remarking during the conversation that ABC Radio Sydney Breakfast flagged content on TikTok (also related to one of the Sydney stabbings), but accused the platform of not removing it.

The host revealed that the media outlet told TikTok, “We’re taking down all this footage that’s happened in the Wakeley stabbing, we’re trying to regulate that kind of stuff.”

But apparently this effort, joined by the eSafety commissioner, did not produce results – or as Reucassel said, social platforms are not sufficiently “proactive.”

Even if videos have a sensitive content warning and people have to click and choose to still watch it – Rowland doesn’t think that’s “enough.”

Rowland agreed.

“They need to do more. Keeping Australians safe online, protecting particularly children and vulnerable people from being exposed to this content is a collective responsibility.”

And that’s when listeners got “encouraged” to report content to eSafety.

Paris NGOs file complaint against Israeli-French national for alleged torturing of Palestinians

Pro-Palestinian organizations demand prosecution to look into a video in which the IDF soldier is allegedly taunting Palestinian detainees during his service in Gaza

According to the report, three French organizations - the Association of Palestinians of France, the organization Justice and Rights Without Borders, and the March 30 Movement - filed the complaint. In the charges, they claim the soldier was involved in torture as part of a "genocidal military attack.”

According to the organizations, their complaint is based on a video allegedly filmed by the same French-Israeli citizen, which was shared on social media in February by a source close to him. The video shows Palestinian detainees, with one of them seen with his hands tied behind his back. "They tortured him to make him talk. Did you see his back?” the soldier is heard saying.

Other Palestinian detainees are seen in the video sitting with their eyes blindfolded, and the French-Israeli soldier is heard allegedly saying, "Shut your mouths, bunch of btches. You were happy on October 7, bunch of sons of whres."

The organizations demand the French prosecution to launch an investigation into the matter. Their lawyer, Gilles Devers, said he believes there’s ground for filing the complaint. "We want to know if this Frenchman, who is in Israeli uniform, has not committed crimes of torture, as perpetrator or accomplice, or crimes of mistreatment". Devers said. According to the lawyer, "the lack of reaction from the prosecutors would pose a serious problem."

Latest Pandemic Treaty draft has gaping holes because they daren’t reveal what they plan to do

The latest draft of the Pandemic Treaty proposed by WHO’s Intergovernmental Negotiating Body is an admission of failure so significant that they are suggesting nations sign an incomplete document.

“They know that they cannot show us the details of what they really want to do. So, they are proposing an incomplete, watered-down agreement in the hopes that they will be able to make decisions in the future; in the hopes that we won’t be paying attention,” James Roguski has concluded.

Please note: WHO’s Pandemic Treaty has also been referred to as the Pandemic Accord, Pandemic Agreement and WHO Convention Agreement + (“WHO CA+”). In this article, we refer to it as the Pandemic Agreement.

The ninth meeting of the Intergovernmental Negotiating Body (“INB”) started on 18 March and ended on 28 March. “WHO Member States agreed to resume negotiations aimed at finalising a pandemic agreement during 29 April to 10 May” at the resumption of INB9, a statement released by the World Health Organisation (“WHO”) said.

In December 2021 WHO decided to establish the INB to draft and negotiate a WHO convention, agreement, or other international instrument on pandemic prevention, preparedness and response. INB9 is the ninth meeting of the INB.

The next round of INB9 negotiations will end a little over two weeks before the World Health Assembly.

“Next month’s resumption of INB9 will be a critical milestone ahead of the Seventy-seventh World Health Assembly, starting 27 May 2024, at which Member States are scheduled to consider the proposed text of the world’s first pandemic agreement for adoption,” WHO’s statement said.

WHO’s statement includes a link to a draft of the Pandemic Agreement that INB9 was negotiating. This version is labelled A/INB/9/3 and is dated 13 March 2024.

According to the draft Agreement, a “regional economic integration organisation” means “an organisation that is composed of several sovereign states and to which its Member States have transferred competence over a range of matters, including the authority to make decisions binding on its Member States in respect of those matters.”

Noam Sohlberg, a Supreme Court judge, decided last week that 15 Palestinians must leave their Silwan home, the Israeli newspaper Haaretz reported.

The Israeli court claimed the home was the property of the settler organisation Ateret Cohanim, which obtained the interests of a trust that allegedly purchased the site before the creation of Israel in 1948.

The judge ordered the Shehadeh family, who purchased the building in 1967, to leave by a 1 June deadline, saying they would also have to pay Ateret Cohanim 5,000 shekels ($1,300) in legal fees.

The settler group in 2001 obtained ownership of a trust that allegedly bought land in Silwan in 1899.

Yemeni Jews allegedly lived there until the British, who at the time controlled Mandatory Palestine, evicted them in 1938 because of security conditions.
