What does this mean? DO NOT COMPARE IT TO THE FLU. IT IS NOT THE FLU. This means that the deaths we are seeing are normal per flu season and that the points 1 and 2 will support that most people will be fine.

What does this mean? People still think the lockdown is only a month or a few weeks. This shows them that it is a minimum of 8 months or a max of 18 months, which any reasonable person will agree that is impossible. If they Still think it should be locked down after, point the to point X where we go over economic damage.

Testing is weak, unreliable, inaccurate

What does this mean? That Case # is going to increase, especially because the tests have an 80% false positive rate. The test can ring positive for the common cold.

Epidemiologists, virologists, medical staticians against lockdown

What does this mean? That "not all doctors" advocate for lockdown. Doctors are not experts in economics and they are also not experts in infectuous disease. What does this mean? This highlights how the negative impact of shutdown is significantly larger than the actual virus, even with its inaccurate and grossly exaggerated models.

Do not compare it to the flu. You will be written off.

You are not here to "win" you are here to change minds so we can help people from economic and literal suicide.

The Best approach is to find middle ground and argue for the Swedish, Japanese, Korean models where there is no lockdown but they protect the old, weak. This prevents the estimated 30% unemployment and 35m+ small businesses from being destroyed.

Some people will troll, waste your time, or be repeating the argument of a troll. See if they fall into one of these categories:

-Destroy - I am putting this first to warn you. People may want to attack you personally, whether in person or trying to make you lose your job. Hide all of your info. If you didnt and they try to, lawyer the fuck up.

-Deflect - Shifting topic to other issues that are not related (Shift topic back to original discussion, tell them that theyre off topic comment is correct if you have to)

-Delay - shifting topic to uncertainity, that we dont have enough info (ask why we are shutting down, economic damage if we dont have the info yet?)

-Deny - Saying that your solution or ideas are wrong or wont work (show them sources. If they keep arguing, keep asking them to show them sources and if sources will change their mind. If they say no, give up, they are a lost cause)

-Discount - discrediting you because you are not a doctor, etc "All the doctors say to lockdown and YOURE not a doctor" (show them the other doctors that agree with you, highlight that appeal to authority is not valid)

-Deception - Outright lying, or reciting false information "This is worse than the spanish flu!" (call them out on it immedietly, but be polite. Remember, you are not here to win. If the lie is a part of a large statement, just quickly say it is wrong then address the rest)

-Divide - Changing the topic to division based on religion, politics, gender, etc. "This is capitalisms fault!" (Tell them to focus on the issue at hand and refocus on commond ground)

-Dulcify - agreeing with only a part of your statement but then disagreeing with your conclusion (Ask them how the conclusion does not follow and what they need to be shown to agree)

-Discredit - Claiming you have bad intentions, dont care "you want the old people to die!" (highlight the skorean, japanese, swedish models. Talk about protecting the weak and old so the young and healthy can go back to work and that you are advocating for helping more people).

-Deal - They will agree with your statement. Tell them you are happy because of this and that they should do the same. Link them the sources here.
