Anonymous ID: 6c8f1a Can someone really get away with over $1 million collectively in taxable income in Australia? Oct. 21, 2026, 4:50 p.m. No.25164804   🗄️.is 🔗kun

Eva Xue and John Yan on fb marketplace - This Aelaide couple has been posting op shop and garage sale hauls for years, with over 200g of gold a month, heaps of TAG trading cards, collectible coins and other valuable items. They sell on Facebook Marketplace and also sell gold to bullion buyers for melting. And apparently, there’s plenty more stock sitting at home that hasn’t even been sold yet - they probably earns more than any gold buyer in Adelaide.

They’ve allegedly been doing this for years without paying a cent in tax, while even teaching others how to get away with it.

While theres nothing wrong buying and reselling second-hand stuff, but if you’re making this kind of money year after year, surely tax obligations apply?

With so much being sold publicly and gold going to bullion buyers, how has none of this raised any red flags? Meanwhile, ordinary people and small businesses are expected to declare every dollar and pay their taxes.

Are the ATO systems really that easy to dodge?
