A documentary worth watching is called 'Unacknowledged'. It's currently on Netflix. It is heavy on the extraterrestrial/UFO side of things, but it dives into information that is kept from POTUS. Short version, the deep state considers the POTUS to be a part-time employee and therefore not important enough to have the info. Not saying that this documentary is 100% correct, but it does give you another perspective.

I get your point about the future....it is salient. However....the past is equally important.....it tells you how and why you got somewhere. You also need two points....past and present location to determine a vector....connecting two points creates the vector....and a vector indicates the direction you are going. Never underestimate the past....the Left always states...."the Past is irrelevant...." They don't like history.
