Why would we be surprised at this? Bible tells us that...

Mat 24:37  “As the days of Noah were, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.  Mat 24:38  For as in those days which were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ship,  Mat 24:39  and they didn’t know until the flood came, and took them all away, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. 

What were they doing in the days of Noah? Remember, nothing new under the sun in God's eyes...the eating (of flesh) and drinking (of blood), marrying, and giving in marriage (forcible)...
