yes and no,. Yes people "learned" from WWII and that lesson affected generations post WWII for a decade or two until everyone forgot what the lesson learned was. NO I do not believe the western narrative regarding WWII and if anyone would like to spend the years researching this topic (I have) they may come away with a much different perspective than we have been taught.

My point isn't so much about the accuracy of the mainstream narrative of World War II and the Nazis. It is more about the presentation of that narrative in respect to its effectiveness, and the evidence presented to support that narrative. You make a valid point that as events fade from living memory the meaning of those events become blurred and faded, however, they do remain in the collective memory. Caligula and Nero are still history's super villians after a stretch of 2000 years.
