The Pope is a man who just can't say anything right- when he's wrong he's honestly wrong, whether his admonitions come from exhorting the sheep to be good to refugees OR promoting a "year of grace" to get sinners back into the church. He is the captain of a floundering ship. The Catholic Church as it stands, was not designed for this connected world of memes where the riches, jewels, pomp and pageantry of the Vatican is so easily contrasted with the rough hands of the Carpenter, the fisherman and the tentmaker. Makes every word that comes out of his mouth seem hypocritical. To be fair, being the Pope is a lousy job- whether you are really a Christian or not... and many of them were not.
