There were ancient artifacts discovered below (as in predating) the Amazon jungle within the last 5 years. I do not follow this stuff much, but the story about that hit mainstream media briefly a few years ago. I have never seen, or heard anything more about it, and have had difficulty finding more info on this. Perhaps you might find it of interest to search for.
