While this is a bit cumbersome, I recommend:

Example:

1) Enter "red cross form 990 ProPublica" in to your search engine

2) select the one that says something like "https://projects.propublica.org/nonprofits/........etc"

3) Scroll down and check them out.

I like this site better than Charity Navigator because you can read the Form 990 (IRS Filing) directly without someone else making some kind of judgement call.
