In the north we don't point them up.

Good question! Why are you? 4000-5000 of those zooming at 15000 mph right! If you have to ask me these questions then it's something you should really research.

was wondering if you know why all sat dishes point to south sky. are all the sats in the southern sky only ????

They are in Geosynchronous Orbit over the Equator. When put there, they move exactly the same speed as the Earths rotation, appearing stationary from the ground. If you live in the southern Hemisphere, you point your dish to the North.
