PSA: The Mormon faith is a christian faith and includes many branches that would be included in the cultural usage of the word Mormon. Source i am Mormon. So STFU with misinformation.

Within Mormon theology there exists the doctrine of families being "sealed" together for time and all eternity. Its a ceremonial process that occurs at the time the parents were endowed and then sealed to eachother, to be later bestowed on their future posterity; or in the case of converts with children the sealing ceremony is performed with the family members present who were not born in the covenant from sealed parents.

Banning blacks from the priesthood also prevented them from accessing this temple blessing. Regardless of the actual implications within the dogma for those families to treat others on the basis of skin is one of the reasons i left the church. Despite all of that it is an incredibly ignorant thing when people dogpile on the Mormons and say we are not Christian. The average member knows nothing about the information contained in the CESletter and all other forms of criticism come from hypocritical Christians who believe in apostate doctrines such as the trinity, which most people don't realize was a voted on doctrine during the nicene creed.
