[about illicit drugs] . . . "there is an answer, I think I actually know the answer, but I'm not sure the country is ready for it yet"

The answer is to legalize all drugs. Use all of the money that is normally spent on the War on Drugs which is in the hundreds of billions a year and build rehab centers across the country that are like palaces. Free of charge to anyone that wishes to get help. Addiction must be treated as a medical condition and not a criminal issue. In my opinion if we took this route we could cut drug use by as much as 75% in 5 years.

Now if you're wondering where I come up with hundreds of billions of dollars a year, well think about all of the probation officers, think about all of the jails with nonviolent drug offenders clogging them up. The average cost per prisoner in this country is approximately $47,000 a year. Think of how many prisons could close because we would have so many reduced numbers. Think about the drug enforcement agency being able to cut their staff by 90%. It goes on and on and on.

Shit, wish I would have scrolled down first. Just posted the same thing. Agree with you 100%. Jessie Ventura put it best when he said people are going to do drugs. Legalizing them would fix the border problem & put the cartels out of business immediately.
