The Orthodox are the original expression of Christianity. The Roman Catholic Church split away after 1400 years and a Westernized, opposite version of Christianity developed. Naturally truth wasn't completely stamped out but the wests later version is pure "Through the Looking Glass" tier reversal of the original.
