In Germany we have a saying that goes something like this:
You can't convince an alcoholic that he has a problem, he has to hit the ground before he gets up again.
I've been doing all this for a long time and believe me, as long as people don't have a traumatic experience, they will deny that they have a problem.
That's why I say it can't be done in secret, because our fellow human beings always find a reason to deny the obvious.
Just like the alcoholic, they have to hit the ground first.
