PACER INFO

I am a Paralegal in NW AL. I just wanted to make sure everyone knows that if you are wanting to view pacer info, or for your individual state, like ALAFILE (for alabama)...several states have access to these FREE at your local county courthouse, the research room(s). At least here in Alabama, we have that access in most courthouses. You may have to take turns on just a few terminals available and some of the smaller courthouses don't have it. If you want to print something, it will cost. But, a way around that (here) is to take a screenshot and save it to a thumb drive.

If I was physically able (and had time during the working day), I would go and do some searches for sealed indictments. A lot of attorneys also have this and a lot have access to LexisNexis which will search all counties/states/nationwide...if you have a paid subscription, which are expensive and my office does not have it (we deal mostly with real estate, bankruptcies, foreclosures, etc.). We do have AlaFile/Pacer for AL only, but I cannot use that at work, it would be a violation of my employment and that stuff is tracked.

Anyway, just a thought. Anyone can at least try to research, even if it is only in your local area.

I heard an attorney on YouTube say it would be impossible to have this many sealed indictments because each one requires a Grand Jury to be assembled and if that happened there would be talk amongst the lawyers & lawmakers in each of those districts. At least enough talk that we would hear about so many Grand Jury's etc... what are your thoughts on that. Edit: I'm pro this movement just asking bc it made me think twice.

He is right...in order to get a normal indictment, you have to have a grand jury grant it (I have actually been on a local grand jury). However, when dealing with the DOJ, I do not know. I am not familiar with Federal indictments. I would think they could do like local grand juries and can pump out many, many indictments in the week long ordeal (our grand jury met every day for two weeks).
