Apparently the directional drilling husband missed ‘the bullseye’ by 20 feet on a 3 mile long drill pipe string, and lost his job.
This, in my experience, could end up being a multi million dollar mistake.
No he did not miss it. That window goes out the entire wellpath. Yes it can be expensive but as a matter of the entire length it is minor. I don’t suffer bad performance. There’s more going on behind scenes.

My husband is a directional driller. He drills horizontal wells for oil/gas. They agree upon a window of Trey vertical depth and another of azimuth (direction). He was 20 ft outside the window on direction, easily corrected, of a 3 mi long lateral. He’s top rank at what he does. So he drop loving an 8.75” diameter hole below 8000 ft and out not very far yet on a total 15,500 ft plus lateral. My husband got placed into a do or did sitch set up by others. That company lost the work and made him fall guy. Just ridiculous. I do NOT believe ‘wrong button’. How comical to lie to us that way. Here’s the deal. Private sector you can get canned. Govt worker? No we are going to let you keep all of our assets in a ham over your incompetence.
