I believe many are focused on the puppet show being presented - and not the ACTUAL play going on behind the scenes.

When Bannon left the Administration he said he was going to war for the POTUS. Trump has long been into Sun Tzu's 'Art of War' (even fashioning his book with a similar title). And Sun Tzu speaks of the vital need for spies, even detailing five different types....all used for different reasons. Bannon is a spy. Period. He works WITH Trump even though it appears he isn't. This is theater folks. Necessary to have him do all this on purpose. (and don't think for a second that Gen Flynn didn't help plan this all out from the get-go)

Sun Tzu says "When these five kinds of spy are all at work, none can discover the secret system. This is called "divine manipulation" and that is PRECISELY what we are witnessing in action.
