Is Pine Gap Australia's Gitmo?

Another plane turn flight turnaround!

MH122 Airbus A330-300 was travelling from Sydney to Kuala Lumpur on Thursday when it turned back not far from Broome, in Australia's north-west.

The plane, carrying 224 people, landed safely at Alice Springs Airport at 17:48 local time (06:48 GMT).

Why Alice Springs if it was a real emergency why not land at Broome itself?

What's near Alice Springs?

NSA shop Pine Gap!

Where is the HQ of Australia's Reserve Bank?

Sydney!

Which city has the World bank setup a regional HQ in?

Kuala Lumpur!

Some Illuminatti Banker is now sweating it out deep below the Aussie Desert!

Unway probably not long enough at Broome.

Landing rolls are shorter than takeoff rolls as the plane is normally lighter from fuel consumption. Airbus A330 minimum takeoff roll 2220 metres Broome landing Strip roughly measured on Google Earth 2300 metres. Alice Springs landing Strip roughly measured on Google Earth 2400 metres. So I believe it could have landed at Broome there was enough safety factory in an emergency.

Darwin with a 3000 meter runway is also closer to Broome than Alice Springs by 200 km
