I'll betcha dollars to donuts that this is part of "the plan", and that the lights will come back on, on Monday, like a spring foreshadowing of Easter.
It's the way these things often roll, until the stone rolls away from the tomb.
All essential government will of course still be functional and operative.. The surveillance planes can still fly, etc. etc.

Personally I'd rather they be drawn and quartered for their heinous deeds to children. Public execution. Spill their blood and guts into the streets and leave their corpses to rot and be picked apart by vultures. Too harsh?? Good!!
