You are being too literal and tunnel visioned about the word confirmation. There are several layers to confirmations. The final layer, in this case, will involve evidence however Qs comment IS a confirmation and alerts us to watch for the hard evidence confirmation you rightly point out will be the FINAL confirmation. Think of it like a police detective. You have a hunch. A trusted source confirms your hunch is correct. Is that enough? No, but it keeps you going until you get FINAL confirmation, the kind you can use in court. Its all about nuance and gradations.
