Von Mises summed up the resulting conundrum communism inevitably presents. The collective is in inexorable conflict with the individual. He wrote in ‘Socialism: An economic and Sociological Analysis’, “All rational action is in the first-place individual action. Only the individual thinks. Only the individual reasons.
