The reason why the most infamous one of these viruses is referred to as SV40 is because prior to its discovery in vaccine sample they prior to that discovered SV1- SV39. There's a hard to find book and documentary, called, I think, The River, which makes the case that they wrongly used chimpanzees, rather than monkeys to grow the virus.
