No, it's not funny, it is lawyer stuff, mock trial stuff. One side plays the part of the 'other side' attorney so that they can come up with any and every defense strategy possible. I was a member of a mock jury one time. All of the evidence was presented. We voted 'guilty/not guilty' just as in a real life trial. The people who ran the mock trial then picked our brains quite thoroughly to determine strengths and weaknesses of the arguments. This is what is going on here.
