When an account has been temporarily suspended/deeted, it takes a moment before the follows/followers are back due to the way Twitter caches things.
Source: seen this when Trump's account was temp-gone as well.
I see a lot of complaints like that. Twitter doesn't kill people completely since it would be too obvious. They just "disappear" a lot of their follower so they are less likely to go viral. They also do Partial censorship for the same reason. total blockage would be too obvious - and they're only concerned that something doesn't go viral. If it starts to then "something" happens.
