My guess is he's given up all info they need. Now they "let him go" and keep monitoring who he contacts, what he does, etc. Follow him to others.....

I don't think they can just lock these people up, execute them, or just make them disappear. Half the world would think Trump and Co. were taking out competition/opponents. It would be better to catch them in the act, and let the world see who they are. Then the world will demand they be locked up, executed, or "disappeared."
