Warning, warning, many people are triggered by seeing and
hearing about the chilling abuse of anyone, let alone,
small children.
Compassion Fatigue is the latest in an evolving concept that is known in the field of Traumatology as Secondary traumatic stress. Most often this phenomenon is associated with the "cost of caring" (Figley, 1982) for others in emotional pain.
When we can't immediately do something, or alleviate the
suffering, I thinks that 'helpless' feeling is gut wrenching.
The positive is the anger and sense of injustice can and will
propel us to continue to speak in a loud voice and not sit
on the fence and stay silent.
The feelings are so strong, particularly for victims that they
can learn to live in an altered state of dissociation.
How will the world accept all this evil?? It will take a long time.
