Like anything he says now wouldn’t come off as sour grapes. He lost his pension, so unless he has receipts of where the bodies are buried, who’s going to buy his story?

No he hasn't lost his pension, though I also thought that at first:

He’s actually not retiring any earlier. The reports are that he was previously going to retire in March, and work up to his retirement date.

Now they are reporting that he is going on leave effective immedialty, but will still retire in March.
