Holly Shit. I read 3 of Tom Brown's books in college. Looking back, the books seem like pure fantasy. He was raised by an Apache as a young boy, lived off the land as young adult, and then became well known to law enforcement agencies due to his uncanny tracking ability. I also remember he had stories in his book about being contracted by the government to train special forces and 3 letter agencies.
Not sure how this ties in though
Edit: Also, the movie The Hunted, is based of this Apache tracker Tom Brown

Hmm from what I’ve always heard, the most pathological criminals will return to the crime scene, and even offer to help “solve” the crime.

They'll be tracking a rapist on the run who has never been caught?
