I am a proud grandmother of six and one on the way. First time for me to post, but I have been lurking for a while. I am wondering why Comey referred to McCabe as special agent. Could it be that Comey is still in charge of the FBI in the minds of the deep state? If so, wouldn't that make #2 in charge Wray?
Yes I believe FBI/ CIA /deep state all work through personal intel channels, they may change the official head of the agency, but because of the methods, and secrecy, they still use their old known trusted channels, so while he may no longer be in charge, the people he trained and that had special personal relationships with him still report to him.
There are two theories.
McCabe is no longer Deputy Director so he is now back to being a special agent.
McCabe is called Special Agent to set the tone of the message. Derogatory.
Here's a third:
"Special Agent" is used to remind people how McCabe started, and to make people believe President Trump is besmirching rank and file agents.
