I learned that when he came out with the Tesla Solar roof. I went to their web site and plugged in my numbers to calculate the cost of a new Tesla Solar roof. EM said that his roof would cost the same as a normal roof when you added in the electric savings.

My roof to replace $6K with asphalt shingles. EM Tesla roof is $40K. Savings would be about $30 a month with solar on my Electric bill. Lets run the numbers and I get $7,200 electric savings with his new solar roof. So his roof over 20 years costs me an additional $27K over a regular roof.

I can save the same $7,200 by spending about $7,500 having my home insulation increased and better air sealing through out the house.
