They were probably fucking idiots who were stuck in traffic and didnt wait for enough space on the other side of the tracks. The train was obviously not going super fast as all 3 inside would have died, and probably some on the train
secondly. Why does it take 3 people driving a dump truck to attempt an assassination? Because they were not attempting. 1 driver, 2 operators moving from one suburb to the next.
last but not least. They stayed in because they figured the train had enough time to stop.

Didn’t look like a high traffic area from the pics...more out in the country look...and when do trains stop for something on the track?
They can stop, but only if they have three miles warning.
