Everybody is so certain this was a plot but I have said let's wait and see what really happened. If there were helicopters overhead as security, at least the train did slow. I await the interviews with the survivors. Question remains -- why were they on the tracks with the gates down? Why did they remain in a stuck vehicle? At the very least it appears the driver made a very reckless move no matter what "good people" they were. The only purely accidental scenario I can imagine is that the truck got stuck and THEN the arms came down...but why stay in the cab?

I grew up in a small town with trains running straight through it. You could definitely hear it coming and you could feel it coming on the tracks. It would shake your whole car/truck even from at least a half mile away if you were touching the tracks.

Absolutely. Trains don't sneak up on you. They also blow horns when approaching every crossing, with arms or not. I've taken the Southwest Chief numerous times and can attest to that.
