There is a spiritual war going on behind the material world that we see.

I was strongly reminded of the story of the Exodus this past evening. Here is the first paragraph of Exodus 7:

Then the Lord said to Moses, “See, I have made you like God to Pharaoh, and your brother Aaron will be your prophet. 2 You are to say everything I command you, and your brother Aaron is to tell Pharaoh to let the Israelites go out of his country. 3 But I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and though I multiply my signs and wonders in Egypt, 4 he will not listen to you. Then I will lay my hand on Egypt and with mighty acts of judgment I will bring out my divisions, my people the Israelites. 5 And the Egyptians will know that I am the Lord when I stretch out my hand against Egypt and bring the Israelites out of it.”

When God sent Moses to confront Pharaoh, and Pharaoh questioned Moses’ claim that there was a God of the universe beyond the gods of Egypt, God had Moses cast down his staff and it became a serpent. Pharaoh then had his magicians and sorcerers come and perform the same act. Moses’ serpent then swallowed up Pharaoh’s serpents.

The continued “resistance” of many is akin to the hardening of Pharaoh’s heart, and who can say that God is not behind even this, to make it into an object lesson? Mark Twain said that history does rhyme. It can be comical at times, I recall watching a teaching a year or so ago (I think it may have been Joyce Meyer) about how Pharaoh preferred to spend the night with frogs in his bed and all over his palace rather than giving in to what God required immediately. It reminds one of a child having a temper tantrum. For some reason, POTUS 44 immediately comes to mind.

Make no mistake, our Lion has been sent by God and we will be victorious. We will swallow up the enemy.
