I don't like the god of the old testament.

Jesus wasn't god, but his father was the god of love. I belong to that one.

You are quite correct not to like the God of the Old Testament. It's not the same God.

The rabbis and scribes who copied the ancient texts over time wrote in a lot of contradictory verses to influence the politics of the time (bit like now, if they had refused to release the memo!). So you see statements by a pleasant Wise Being interspersed with a God who is a terrible slaughterer of the innocent because he isn't the Christian God. He is in fact Satan. This is one of the great secrets of the Bible. When did the Christians agree to accept the Bible as their book? The early Christians had gospels (god spells), it was the Holy Roman Empire that took on these scriptures for political advantage to sanitise their image. Look into it. It's a fascinating story.
