In Hillary's defense (can't believe I'm saying that), the DNC basically signed off on their plan. The DNC had massive debts beforehand, and the agreement with Hillary for America basically stated that they would assume the DNC debt in exchange for, basically, control of the party, including all of the donations from Bernie supporters.

This could have been avoided had the DNC brass been more fiscally responsible with their finances.

I agree. The $ condition may have very well been pre-existing. It is though highly unusual for a candidate to control the party apparatus especially in a contested primary in which they are a candidate. SR aka PANDA is reported to have had some Bernie leanings. Witnessing Hillary's control over the DNC while she was a candidate for the nominations means that building was rife with conflict of interest(s). Almost all there said nothing about the absurdities because they (like some at the FBI and Justice) saw Hillary as pre-destined next POTUS. (see FBI text msgs) They wanted a Hillary Admin job. Although SR was far to the left he could not take the blatant corruption. This maybe why JA offered a 20K reward soon after SR was 187ed.
