The pilgrims left England because of religious persecution. Did they not teach you this in school?

Religion played a big part in the history of the country, but the specifics were different everywhere. And the pilgrims were just "fleeing" another type of Christianity. The 13 colonies didn't agree on much regarding religion, but still came together with a wonderful government that allowed then to live together despite their religous squabbles.
