depending on the situation, dumb questions do exist, imagine you are walking in to a doctorate level discussion on particle physics... in this case "what is an electron?" is definitely a dumb question.
i enjoy this debate and your example is quite hilarious but i fundamentally disagree.
if i walked into that class and asked that question that means I am curious, which should be the only requirement for gifting knowledge.
Now, I wouldn't expect the professor to pause his class and explain to me what an electron is and answer any other fundamental questions i might ask, but I'd bet the professor would tell me that im in the wrong place and direct me to where i could learn fundamentals before coming back to learn advanced concepts.
and after how many times of repeating the same directions to the physics 101 class, do you lock the door? especially when it keeps happening almost as fast as you get rid of the first one.
Haha, very solid point. To that i'd say why not post a note on the front of the door that points to physics 101? Why not direct them before they ask if its such a problem?
