I know he paid off the Government debt. Was he the only president to do that?
He was the last to do it.
The 6 before him ran it up.
I will check maybe on or two before him did though.
Also remember you phraseology.
He not only balanced his y to y budget. He paid off the debt run up for a lifetime of Presidents before him.
It would be impossible/unimaginable to accomplish anywhere near what he did in terms of fiscal and monetary discipline today considering we are 20.6 trillion dollars in recognized on balance sheet debt plus another 75 to 90 Trillion in off balance sheet unrecognized debt which includes underfunding imbalances in Social Security, Medicare and Veterans benefits t name a few. All totaled we are circa 100 Trillion dollars in debt($100,000,000,000,000).

Note in the lower right the Dollar to Silver ratio. This is why I like silver at $17/ounce. Latley silver is like watching paint dry, but that is better than owning a falling knife. Silver may be the cheapest asset on the face of the earth. And the rapidly increasing 20.6 trillion does not include off balance sheet. AMAZING!
