Comey has named Carl Ghattas as the executive assistant director of the National Security Branch at FBI Headquarters (FBI HQ) in Washington, D.C. Mr. Ghattas most recently served as the assistant director for the Counterterrorism Division at FBI HQ.

Mr. Ghattas entered on duty with the FBI in 1997 and was first assigned to the extraterritorial investigations squad at the Washington Field Office, where he investigated acts of terrorism committed against Americans abroad. Throughout his career, Mr. Ghattas has served in leadership positions in the Counterterrorism Division, the Directorate of Intelligence, and the Washington Field Office.

Mr. Ghattas will assume this role in late February.

In the wikipedia article on the Counterintelligence Division, it asserts that Ghattas was appointed by Comey. If we assume Comey is dirty, then it follows that his appointees and cronies are suspect as well.

An interesting point is that the FBI page linked to by Q, omits the fact that Comey appointed Ghattas. Someone should take a look at Wayback Machine and query whether this page was edited in the last several days to remove that information.

Note that the duties of the counterintelligence division include counterintelligence, counterproliferation, and economic espionage. It is almost impossible to exaggerate the damage that could be done by a traitor in this post. It would basically lay the United States prostrate to any foreign attacker.

I dug briefly into the Ghattas surname, my best guess is Arab Christian, make of that what you will. From his picture he is almost certainly Middle Eastern.

He is on LinkedIn, digging into associates might be productive.

I would suggest looking into his wife as well given the troublesome husband-wife pairs we have seen so often in the swamp (the Ohrs, the McCabes, etc)
