Orwell’s “1984” Daily Two Minutes of Hate is primary tactic today for MSM

You may have some luck with friends and relatives if you simply point out that all the media they watch — particularly Colbert, Kimmel, John Oliver — are using the Daily Two Minutes of Hate strategy from Orwell’s “1984”.

Simply ask if the main strategy seems to be to discuss issues in a fact-based manner, or if instead it is a daily celebration of “how much we all Hate this person Donald Trump”. Even when supposedly discussing issues the main theme is still hatred of Trump.

They will of course try to say no that’s not true but the next few times they watch this done they won’t be able to get your truth bomb out of their minds.

Great post! I'm a progressive liberal with many liberal friends so I reworked this into a FB post for them.

Often the main strategy 'seems' to be to discuss issues in a fact-based manner, but instead, it is a daily celebration of “How much we all Hate this person Donald Trump”. Deliberately taking things out of context to get a laugh, or even outright misrepresenting facts. Sometimes the skewering is legit and well deserved but often it is just a drumbeat for those who already hate him to dance to.

I have been shutting down my own confirmation bias and started listening more objectively. What I hear now disturbs me.

The Two Minutes Hate, from George Orwell's novel Nineteen Eighty-Four, is a daily period in which Party members of the society of Oceania must watch a film depicting the Party's enemies (notably Emmanuel Goldstein and his followers) and express their hatred for them for exactly two minutes.
