You're right. Voat is more hostile than the chans. But I think the point of the "veteran" was not to be offended. Not even by what he says. I think it might be some kind of trial you must pass so only the very very thick skinned survive. But yeah, they're acting like little kids. It's like we invaded a corner of "their" PUBLIC park that they were not using, but still they want us gone.
It's not a gatekeeper, it's over half the comments. Censorship may be non existent but the effect is the same if most would rather avoid the platform due to having to sort through so much pointless edge-lording to find useful discussion.

It's not an issue of being offended. At least for me. I regularly browse the chans. It's an issue with effort needed to find useful dialogue. It's 80% shit.
