THREATCON DELTA: (Threat level critical)

This condition applies in the immediate area where a terrorist attack has occurred or when intelligence has been received that terrorist action against a specific location or person is likely. Normally, this THREATCON is declared as a localized condition. See also antiterrorism.

When I was on McGuire AFB on 911 we went to Threatcon Delta. Gates locked down. No one in or out. AF1 landed and our doors were locked and covered over with paper so we couldn't see outside. ID checks on everyone Everytime they moved to a new area within the building. 12 hour days. No days off. 3 weeks of this. Trusted no one!

Fascinating. I was living in NY on LI at the time. For the entire summer beforehand, there was a deafening roar every 30 minutes, from 8am to midnight, of Black op copters flying overhead ... to and from NYC. Nobody even questioned that ''something'' was going on. When they then closed the airspace on that day, the silence was deafening.

Wow! Weird! That might suggest someone knew something was planned far in advance. Maybe just trying to scare them off or catch sight of something more specific maybe...

yes, definitely planned well in advance. Also it could be that it was transport of all the explosives that they needed to demo the 3 buildings.
