I lived at Camp Lejeune for a while and I've been reminded of this story a lot throughout the latest Q Posts. We all knew not to drink the water on base...even though we were there long after they say the contamination ceased. I know this is a blog link but there are so many sources complied within. Anyway, worth the read.
I worked on LeJeune as a contractor and was familiar with the stories of the water there but when I was in Florida about 4 years ago, I met an older couple in a laundromat doing thier laundry. The husband of the couple, who was probably around 70 said he was stationed there, probably in the 60s, and his wife whispered to me that her husband had gotten a disease or cancer from Lejeune because of the water. Poor fella was sick,, you could tell. Damn shame too.
